Biography

Ankur A. Patel, DO, MHA, is a board-certified nephrologist with special expertise in geriatrics and internal medicine. Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from A. T. Still University – Kirksville; completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center (now known as Banner University Medical Center – Phoenix); and specialized further by achieving a fellowship in Nephrology at Allegheny General Hospital.

At Southwest Kidney Institute in Estrella and Goodyear, Dr. Patel provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, with a strong focus on general nephrology and comprehensive CKD management. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at Midwestern University – Arizona Campus and Clinical Adjunct Professor at A.T. Still University.

When interacting with his patients, Dr. Patel always strives to provide compassionate, comprehensive care to patients with kidney disease and seeks to improve their health and quality of life.

Dr. Patel is fluent in Gujarati, and speaks conversational Spanish and Hindi. He is an active member of the National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Nephrology; serves as Chairperson for the Medical Advisory Board – National Kidney Foundation Arizona; volunteers at Path to Wellness Events for National Kidney Foundation Arizona; and is a Speaker at Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association – 2025 Summer Symposium. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two daughters, and following sports, especially football.
