Biography

Shefali Goel Gupta, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist. She earned her medical degree from Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla, India; completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center; and fellowship training in Nephrology at the same institution.

At Southwest Kidney Institute in Scottsdale, Dr. Gupta provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, with a strong focus on Kidney Transplant and Glomerulonephritis.

She has published research on Measurement of Equivalent Urea Clearance with Continuous Slow Efficiency Dialysis (C-SLED) and Ring-enhancing brain lesion in a man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. She also serves as a Joint Venture Board Member at Southwest Kidney Institute.

Dr. Gupta’s care philosophy centers on compassion and connection: “Throughout my career, caring for patients has taught me that true healing comes from compassion, respect, and attentive care. This philosophy has not only shaped the lives of others but has also transformed me.”

She is fluent in Hindi and was recognized for her clinical knowledge with First Position at the Texas Chapter Southeast Region Associates Day – Doctors’ Dilemma Competition by the American College of Physicians. Dr. Gupta also volunteers with Path to Wellness, a program of the National Kidney Foundation. Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking healthy meals and exploring new recipes that bring her family together.
