Biography

Umar Waheed, MD, FASDIN is a board-certified Nephrologist recognized for his expertise in Interventional Nephrology. Dr. Waheed earned his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College, completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, IL, and specialized further by achieving a fellowship in Nephrology at Ohio State University.

At SKI Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Dr. Waheed provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, with a strong focus on Dialysis access creation, maintenance and repair. He has an extensive list of publications and research including “Maturation of Arteriovenous Fistula with Automated Sonography Assessments (MAFASA) Trial” and “Prospective, Multi-center Clinical Study of an Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene Stent Graft in the Treatment of Stenosis at the Graft-Vein Anastomosis of Dysfunctional Hemodialysis Access Grafts”, and serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Arizona and Guest Reviewer for the Journal of Vascular Access.

Dr. Waheed is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi. He is an active member of the American Society of Diagnostic & Interventional Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, and Renal Physicians Association.
