Biography
Usama Elewa, MD, MSc, PhD, is a board-certified nephrologist. He earned his medical degree from Ain Shams University School of Medicine in Egypt; completed his postgraduate medical education at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri; and obtained his International PhD in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid in Spain.
At Southwest Kidney Institute’s Central Phoenix location, Dr. Elewa provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, with a strong focus on acute and chronic kidney disease, glomerular disorders, diabetic kidney disease, polycystic kidney disease, and hypertension. He offers a range of advanced services, including dialysis, tunneled dialysis catheter placement, and dialysis access repair procedures such as angioplasty, thrombectomy, and stent placement.
Dr. Elewa is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. He has contributed extensively to clinical and academic nephrology through high-impact research and publications and currently serves on the editorial boards of several international medical journals.
